Error Code on Dell® Inspiron 17
Do you encounter error codes on your Dell Inspiron 17 laptop and want to get rid of them?
Dell Inspiron 17 is new laptop that comes pre-installed with Windows 7. You might get some error codes on your Dell Inspiron 17 system. Error codes mainly occur because of the improper or incomplete installation of the operating system. Sometimes, it is suggested doing clean installation of the default operating system immediately after purchasing. However, it is better to test the operating system before doing this. If you do not get error codes on your Dell Inspiron 17, then Windows is installed correctly. In addition, some error codes do not require re-installing Windows, so you should know what they mean.
Here are some error codes on Dell Inspiron 17 and their meanings:
- Video related error codes
- Hard drive and virtual drive error codes
- Windows related error codes
Video related error codes
The video related error codes on Dell Inspiron 17 belong to class “5” of errors. Error code “5300:0119” means the system cannot access a virtual memory module. Re-install the driver of the graphics card and it should work fine afterwards. If you do not want to re-install the driver, run Diagnostics on your Dell Inspiron 17. Using a lower resolution for most demanding games and application might work, but this is a compromise on quality. If this error is displayed often, you might also consider changing the video RAM memory cards.
Hard drive and virtual drive error codes
The drive related error codes are codified in the class “0”. If you get an error that starts with “0”, it is definitely related with hard drives or virtual drives. The error code “0142 Unmountable Boot Volume” means the hard drive is faulty and you will have to replace it. Usually the 500GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive is efficient and long-lasting and the problem could be somewhere else. In addition, another common error code is “0×80070570”. This means the optical drive cannot read the DVD or the drive source of your files. Try writing the same data using a lower write speed for the CD and DVD and try the installing process again.
Windows related error codes
Some error codes might be displayed during the Windows installation process, and they are usually in class “1”. If you see an error that starts with “16”, it will surely mean that the operating system can’t be installed on your Dell Inspiron 17, or the installation source is corrupted. “1638: Error product version” means that you cannot install the new version of Windows over the existing one. “Error 1637: Patch Package Unsupported” means the Windows Installer is old and needs an update if you want that patch installed.
