Some of the common networking issues associated with Dell Alienware® M17x™ are wireless card connectivity problems, poor or varying wireless network connection speed, device not responding while being disconnected etc.

The following are some of the common networking problems that occur in Dell Alienware® M17x and the tips to resolve them:

  • Wireless card issues
  • Device sleep
  • Varying or low speed

Wireless card issues

The wireless card connection issues arise because of the improper installation of wireless card driver. The Dell Alienware® M17X™ system cannot detect the proper driver for the wireless card and it may fail to connect to the network. So, always make sure that you have installed the proper drivers for the wireless card connectivity.

Device sleep

There is an option named as Device sleep in Ethernet drivers. This means the device will go to sleep mode once you disconnect the Ethernet cable. This issue can be solved by disabling the Device sleep option. You need to follow the following path “Windows Device Manager/ Device Manager/ Network adapters/ NVIDIA® nForce® Networking Controller”. Now go to the “Advanced tab” and disable “Device sleep on disconnect”. It is advisable that you reboot your system after performing this action. Another solution to this issue is to install drivers that do not have “Device sleep on disconnect” feature.

Varying or low speed

Sometimes the speed of wireless connectivity might be low or varying. This can be solved by downloading the “5.60.18.8″ version of wireless drivers from Dell®. By properly installing the drivers, your wireless network connection might speed. Also you should ensure a proper antivirus protection before installing the drivers because sometimes your system might be infected by viruses or malware and that might be the cause of poor network connection speed.
